Dry Cupping

Cupping has a long history around the world. Dry cupping is a non-invasive treatment that can be used alongside sports massage to aid muscular relaxation, range of movement, circulation and to promote healing.

The cups are placed on specific parts of the body and suction is applied to create a vacuum inside, this draws the skin and soft tissue upwards, which stretches the associated fascia. In doing so, the localised blood supply is increased to the muscles, fascia and skin. This in turn brings fresh blood to the area and allows stagnant blood to be moved along.

The cups can be placed in a static position or moved dynamically which increases the intensity and power of the vacuum.

A mark is often left on the skin following a session of cupping, which resembles a red bruise. This is not painful and will usually vanish within ten days, often much sooner. The skin is not broken and these marks indicate that fresh blood has been brought to the surface.

Benefits of cupping:

You can, of course, opt for a cupping only session if you prefer, or to combine it with another style of massage. I am happy to adapt as necessary, depending where the tension is.
